Chhota Akmal's great deeds could not escape punishment this time, batsman out of T20 World Cup, way back to national blocked
LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team's middle-order batsman Umar Akmal has been banned for three years in a spot-fixing case and will stay away from all forms of cricket. Umar Akmal, who was suspended earlier, was charged with two counts of violating the board's anti-corruption code.
Responding to the notices, Akmal had not applied for a hearing in the anti-corruption tribunal, after which the PCB had referred the matter to the chairman of the disciplinary committee. Chairman Disciplinary Panel Justice (retd) Fazal Miran Chauhan had issued notices to Umar Akmal and PCB for hearing of the case on April 27 and the hearing was held today at National Cricket Academy (NCA) Lahore during which all precautionary measures and social Distances were strictly ensured and after the hearing, Umar Akmal was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment.
It should be noted that Umar Akmal was given Article 4.4 of the Anti-Corruption Code of the PCB. Notice of Charge was issued twice for violation of Section 2 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for not informing the PCB Vigilance and Security Department (without undue delay) of any person's offer of corruption. Under Article 6.2, a person found guilty of violating Article 2.4.4 can be sentenced to six months to life imprisonment.
It may be mentioned here that Umar Akmal was supposed to represent Quetta Gladiators in the fifth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) but due to suspension he was banned from participating in all kinds of cricket matches including the league. And now he will be away from all forms of cricket for three years. This is not the first time that such a complaint has been lodged against Umar Akmal but his career has been full of such incidents.
Umar Akmal made his debut against New Zealand where he scored a century. After that, the Pakistan team went on a tour of Australia where Umar Akmal's performance in the first two matches was good but Pakistan had lost the series. But his elder brother and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal was announced to be dropped for the last match due to his poor performance. Later, Umar Akmal, who was playing his fifth match, allegedly used the excuse of injury as a protest against his brother's drop. He also said that he will not play the third match.
He later played the match but was fined by the cricket board. This was the first time in Umar Akmal's career that he was punished for discipline. During the 2016 T20 World Cup in India, when former cricketer and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan visited the hotel of the Pakistani team, all the players When Omar Kamal met him, he surprisingly complained to Imran Khan in front of everyone that the team management was not playing him at the top of the batting order.

After the One-Day Cricket World Cup in 2015, head coach Waqar Yunus submitted his report to the Pakistan Cricket Board in which he wrote negative remarks about the alleged frivolous attitudes of Omar Kamal and Ahmed Shehzad.
In his report, Waqar Yunus made it clear that by sacrificing one Omar Kamal, we can produce other players who would truly take pride in representing the country by wearing Pakistan's star on their chests. Prior to the 2017 Champions Trophy, head coach Mickey Arthur sent Omar Kamal home from England, expressing complete dissatisfaction with his fitness.
The differences between the two were so intense that Omar Kamal accused Mickey Arthur of speaking in an allegedly inappropriate language at a press conference, which Mickey Arthur denied. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had issued a notice to Omar Kamal. Omar Kamal was the highest run scorer in the first edition of the Pakistan Super League but failed miserably in the next two events.
As a result, Lahore Qalandar not only dropped him from the team for the last five matches during the third PSL, but also did not allow him to sit on the bench. Omar Kamal has twice been involved with a traffic warden in Lahore for violating traffic rules.
The first incident took place in February 2014 when an FIR was registered against him for having an improper conversation with a traffic warden and he was taken to the police station. In the second incident in March 2017, he had a fancy number plate on his car. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended Omar Kamal for one match during the 2016 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for violating the PCB's rules on the use of sports equipment and clothing. According to the PCB, he wore trousers with an unapproved brand logo on them during the match.
