China's proposal to create a new forum to defuse tensions in the Middle East

Create a forum in which all stakeholders have equal participation. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Li

BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Li reiterated Beijing's support for Tehran in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart and proposed setting up a new forum to defuse tensions in the Middle East. According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, during a meeting in the southwestern Chinese city of Tengchong, Wang Li and Jawad Zarif reiterated their commitment to the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran's world powers, which the United States has abandoned. The move is opposed.

According to the report, Iran's relations with Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries are in conflict due to the ongoing war in Yemen and Iranian influence in Iraq and Saudi Arabia's support for Washington's sanctions on Tehran. According to a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry regarding the meeting, China has proposed to create a regional multilateral dialogue platform in which all stakeholders have equal participation.

The statement said the forum would promote mutual understanding through dialogue in the Middle East and seek a diplomatic and political solution to security issues. It should be noted that on May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump declared Iran a dangerous country and announced the withdrawal of the nuclear deal signed by former President Barack Obama with Tehran along with world powers including China, Russia, Britain and Germany. Since then, Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia have struggled to save the landmark 2015 agreement with Iran.

On March 5, 2019, the UN nuclear watchdog said that Iran was complying with the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers and was committed to refraining from developing further weapons. On the other hand, talks were held in July this year for a 25-year agreement between Iran and China. China is also an important market for Iranian crude exporters. The implementation of has severely affected oil exports.

The ensuing Corona infection emergency has exacerbated Iran's monetary burdens, which intensified in 2018 after US President Donald Trump pulled back from the atomic arrangement among Iran and world forces and re-forced authorizations.
