LAHORE: Lahore Police has clarified that the case registered against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other PML-N leaders at Shahdara police station has been registered not at the request of the state or any state agency but at the request of a private citizen Badr Rashid.

It was alleged in the FIR that instead of seeking medical treatment, the convicted Nawaz Sharif was sitting in London and making hateful and provocative speeches to defame Pakistan and its powerful institutions under a premeditated criminal conspiracy. The statement said that while taking legal action on the request of the citizen, Shahdara police registered a case under the provisions of the law as per the letter. According to the spokesperson, all aspects of the case and legal requirements were investigated on merit. A Capitol City police spokesman said that legal action would be taken only against those individuals or individuals who were found guilty of trespassing during the investigation.
