LAHORE: Former Judge Arshad Malik, who convicted former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has challenged his dismissal in the Lahore High Court (LHC). Not committed, the decision should be reconsidered. Judge Arshad Malik, who was convicted in the Azizia reference to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was sacked.

Chief Justice Lahore High Court and Sessions Court Judge Arshad Malik had issued a notification for the approval of the judges of the Administrative Committee. The notification said that Judge Arshad Malik has been found involved in the video scandal. Action was taken against the accused on misconduct charges.

Judge Arshad Malik was given a full opportunity to clean up during the inquiry. The Lahore High Court has also rejected the petitions filed by Arshad Malik seeking his retirement.

Earlier on July 28, the Anti-Terrorism Court issued a written order to remove terrorism provisions from Judge Arshad Malik's video scandal case. The seven-page order was issued by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan. According to the order, the court orders removal of section 7ATA of the anti-terrorism case from the case, the prosecution should determine the jurisdiction of the court by enacting the correct law.

It should be noted that dismissed Judge Arshad Malik had sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 7 years imprisonment in Azizia reference. Islamabad High Court had removed Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik from his post on August 22, 2019 after the controversial video came to light, while the Lahore High Court's management committee dismissed Arshad Malik from his post considering all the evidence.
