PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi topped the list by paying Rs 241,329,362 in taxes

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has released details of taxes submitted by MPs in 2018. Prime Minister Imran Khan paid Rs 282,449 in taxes, while opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif paid Rs 9,730,545 in taxes. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid Rs 294,117 in taxes, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi paid Rs 241,329,362 in taxes which was paid by any member of the National Assembly. The highest tax is while Forough Naseem topped the list of senators who paid income tax of Rs 35.135 million.

According to details, former president Asif Ali Zardari paid Rs. 2891,455, foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Rs. 183,900 and opposition leader Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Rs. Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi paid a tax of Rs 2,071,196, while Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq paid a tax of Rs 216,800.

According to the FBR, Defense Minister Pervez Khattak paid Rs. 1,826,899 and Planning Minister Asad Umar Rs. 5,346,342 in taxes. Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid paid Rs. 579,011, Federal Minister Ghulam Sarwar Rs. 1,046,669 and Federal Minister Murad Saeed Rs. 374,728, Federal Minister Ali Zaidi Rs. 896,191, Fawad Chaudhry Rs. Azam Khan Swati paid Rs 590,916 in taxes, Industry Minister Hamad Azhar paid Rs 22,445 in taxes, while former Health Minister Amir Mahmood Kayani and Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Wawdane paid no taxes in 2018.

According to details released by FBR, PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah paid Rs. 1,388,075 in taxes, Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmed paid Rs. League leader Hassan Iqbal paid Rs 367,100 in taxes, while former defense minister Khawaja Asif paid Rs 437,129 in taxes.

The details of tax payment by the senators are as follows: Senator Talha Mahmood paid Rs. 292.10 million, Senator Imam Din Shoqeen Rs. 97.99 million and Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani Rs. 1.363 million. Dr. Ashok Kumar paid Rs. 69 lakh 98 thousand, Senator Mohsin Aziz Rs. 12 lakh 30 thousand, Senator Musaddiq Malik Rs. 25 lakh, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar Rs. 41 lakh 22 thousand, Farooq H Naik Rs. 64 lakh 71 thousand. Saleem Mandviwala paid Rs. 15 lakh 91 thousand while Senator Sherry Rehman paid Rs. 15 lakh 12 thousand in income tax.
