CCPO will not be allowed to be part of the meeting till sentencing, police officers demand

LAHORE: Due to a dispute between IG Punjab and Lahore Police Chief, police officers barred CCPO Omar Sheikh from attending the meeting. According to details, CCPO Lahore Omar Sheikh reached the IG's office to attend the meeting but police officers did not allow him to attend the meeting. Police officials have said that CCPO Lahore will not be allowed to be a part of the meeting till the punishment is meted out. They will not obey the CCPO's order for violating the chain of command because if the CPO IG Lahore police will not obey the order of CCPO Omar Sheikh.

It is to be noted that there is a dispute between IG Punjab Shoaib Dastgir and CCPO Umar Sheikh, where the CCPO had directed the officers to bring all matters to their notice before the IG's order. Shoaib Dastgir was furious and refused to accept the CCPO's apology.

According to sources, IG Punjab has not come to the office for three days.

In the eyes of the IG, this is a serious misconduct. News of the fight between the two officers has reached the Punjab Chief Minister. IG Punjab arrived to meet Usman Bazdar. The Chief Minister said that the CCPO should also be called and a decision would be taken after hearing the views of both. On Monday, the IG Punjab met the Chief Minister and objected to the appointment without consulting the CCPO.

IG Punjab said that CCPO Lahore should be replaced immediately. Sources said that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar apologized for the change of CCPO Lahore while IG Punjab also refused to act on his refusal. It has been reported that IG Punjab went to meet the Chief Minister without any schedule. In the meeting, IG Punjab objected to the appointment of CCPO without consultation. IG Punjab did not visit his office after the appointment of CCPO.
